Energy Rebate Scheme
14th April 2022

Following the first Direct Debit run, Shropshire Council have now processed the first batch of energy rebate payments for just under 39,000 households in Shropshire. The BACS payment run means these payments will appear in bank accounts this week and total £5.8 million.

The finance team will be e-mailing recipients this week (or sending a letter where we do not have email addresses) to explain eligibility criteria.

As the Council Tax System is designed for income collection, not payments, there are expected to be some payments that fail for one reason or another. The team will be processing the next instalment date (7 April) for another payment file next week and also sweep up as many of those that have failed the automated match from the first run.

The FAQs Energy bills rebate | Shropshire Council on the webpage to be updated once the payment file has been sent.

Shropshire Council are working through this process, and will ensure everyone eligible gets their rebate within the allotted time period, 1 April 2022 to 30 September 2022.

There is an e-mail address [email protected] where everyone should direct any queries.
